So, here we are entering the second trimester already! Crazy! I guess a little back-story update is called for since this is the first post about this pregnancy…
Jackson was 6.5 months old (March 2, 2017). He had had a really bad week. We just didn’t know what was wrong with the little guy. He is always so happy but he cried and cried and cried that week. We blamed it on teething (almost 2 months later and he still has no teeth!). I started picking up on him getting mad while nursing. So, I wondered if I wasn’t producing enough milk. I had some milk in the freezer so I made him a bottle after nursing and he sucked down all 4 ounces. He was finally calm. So, I waited a few hours and decided to pump to see how many ounces I would get. I only was able to pump about half of what I would normally get. Suddenly, I remembered being told about a girl who didn’t know she was pregnant until she noticed a drop in her milk supply. So, I decided to take a pregnancy test. Imaging the SHOCK we felt in the next couple of minutes! I had been on no medication, so that made us more nervous. I went to the store and bought another pregnancy test just to make sure. positive! I called my OB, she called in my prescriptions and scheduled an appointment. And within a few days we were staring at a little heart beating on the ultrasound screen.
{picking back up at 19 weeks}
Baby GIRL, Emmalyn Grace, is doing wonderfully! She is measuring right on schedule. I have been feeling her move for about 2 weeks now, but Jordan has not been able to feel her yet. I was able to stop giving myself the blood thinner injections at 16 weeks. The dr said I could stop at 14 weeks but I was nervous. They told me the same with Jackson but I continued to give myself the injections in my tummy daily until 22 weeks. This pregnancy the shots have just been more painful so we decided that we would trust the 3 doctors who assured us that the baby was not benefiting from the injections anymore (after 14 weeks). I am still taking progesterone, aspirin, and vitamins daily. This pregnancy has been easier on my body, overall, than Jackson was. However, I am quite tired with the combination of baby J not sleeping through the night consistently and the pregnancy. But, we couldn’t be more excited!
