Day 13. We left Moab, UT this morning after Jordan came back from his sunrise shoot. Since we stayed a day longer to avoid traveling in the storm, we knew we had a lot of driving to do today to get to Great Sand Dunes National Park.
Also, the plan was to stop at Mesa Verde on the way to Great Sand Dunes. We did stop at Mesa Verde, but unfortunately we were not able to get in because of the snow storm that had passed through last night. The park was closed and the roads were not plowed. I guess only missing 1 park out of a planned 11 isn’t too bad, especially considering the weather!
We had planned to visit Mesa Verde yesterday and stay in Durango last night. Durango ended up getting 24″ of snow in a 24 hour time period! I’m glad we waited to travel!

We also had originally set aside a few hours this morning to walk around Pagosa Springs, CO to all the cute little shops. Unfortunately, since the change of travel plans we had to cut that out since we were driving so much today. But it looked really cute and I think it would be fun for another time!
Travel went well today. Jordan and I switched duties; I drove all day and he tended to the kids’ every want/need. We made it to Great Sand Dunes, literally five minutes before they closed and we got our passport stamped and bought our ornament. We only had this evening to visit GSDNP since tomorrow is Sunday and we will worship in the morning and then drive to Texas.

We didn’t tell the kids solely because we didn’t want to be asked every five minutes but we were meeting Jordan’s parents at GSDNP (Yaya and Pa). They were excited to see them and Jackson insisted that Pa and Yaya ride in his car. We jumped on that opportunity and drove their car and were able to talk some about the new house and the move that’s upcoming without interruptions.
We let the kids play in the snow for a bit while Jordan got his sunset shots and then grabbed supper and checked into the hotel for the night. We have adjoining rooms so we split the kids up. They are having a blast!
