Confession time. I have not kept up with blogging, recording, filling in the empty spaces in the baby book or ANYTHING. AT. ALL. for sweet baby Emmy. The feelings of mom guilt and failure are definitely present. It’s not that I don’t want to record every second of her life, it’s just that I honestly forget! It’s often a little crazy around here with feeding, changing, playing on repeat x2 and trying to fit in a little time for work, housework, and study during the precious couple hours of napping. Blogging is close to the last thing on my mind, but I really am going to try to get better at capturing and recording these precious moments and memories of Emmy’s first year. It is so special to go back and see what Jackson was doing at different stages during his first year and I don’t want to miss that opportunity with Emmalyn.
In case you haven’t caught on, we often call Emmalyn, Emmy for short. Not to be confused, there is only one baby girl- Emmy, Emmalyn, Sister, and Sissy are all the same sweet baby!
It’s so hard to believe that three months have passed since we first met this sweet girl, but at the same time, it seems like she has been here forever. Such a sweet tempered, calm, happy, easy going baby. I remember saying these things about Jackson, but Emmy is even more laid back. We recently discovered that she, too, has some reflux trouble, and once getting her started on the medication, she fusses even less. Little girl slept through the night for the first time December 22. It was her way of saying ‘Merry Christmas, Momma!’. And what a precious gift sleep is! She doesn’t always sleep through the night but probably a couple of nights a week she will, and if she wakes, it’s usually just one time to eat and goes right back down. This is an answer to prayer, for sure! I was so worried about how I was going to function with Jackson and Emmy if I was up through the night with her as much as I was with him throughout his first year. Jackson’s sleep is mostly ok, however, this 18 month sleep regression has been a real thing for us, and a difficult one!
Emmalyn is now on a 4 hour eating rotation. Coming out of the NICU we were on a pretty good schedule, but as life got busy the schedule began to slip. A week or two ago we started a schedule found in the book Save Our Sleep, and it has really worked well for us!
3 MONTHS:
-rolled over from tummy to back 2x, so far
-loves to be talked to, doesn’t care for being alone
-weighs about 13lb (13lb 4 oz last time she was weighed with clothes and diaper on)
-laughed (big laugh) this month! (January 27)
-LOVES her paci and needs it more than Brother did
-is VERY tolerant of big Brother wanting to hug her and kiss on her a lot and “sharing” random toys into her swing (or on her face)
