Jackson Grady {11 months}

11 months old!? How am I really planning my baby’s first birthday party?!

Jackson just finished up his first week of summer church camp at Peach Valley. Once again, complete trooper! He did a GREAT job all week and very rarely cried. We had to fight naps a lot, but he just didn’t want to miss out on what was going on, I guess. It would help if he consistently slept through the night, but we are still waking up for a comfort feeding about  once a night, most nights. Occasionally, he grants us a full night sleep! I am so thankful for those nights! 🙂

He still only has the two teeth on bottom center. We have added in pancakes, rice, watermelon, dump cake, a taste of whipped cream, and a few sips of sweet tea here and there. He is doing great with all foods that we are trying now! He is even adjusting to a room temperature, and sometimes “cool” bottle. I have been trying to prepare him for cow milk when we move off of warm formula bottles over the next few weeks. That will be a big money saver! Formula is not cheap!

Big boy now weighs 23 lbs. He is only 6 pounds away from his big cousin who is nearly 3 years older than him. However, he still falls under the 50th percentile.

Jackson is crawling all over the place! He also has taken up climbing. And bulldozing through the barricades in place to keep him contained in our living room. And, he grunts and growls the whole time he is bulldozing. It is quite entertaining.

He can now stand on his own, after pulling up on something and letting go. He walks all along the furniture and behind/in his walkers. I will not be surprised at some steps any day now.

Separation anxiety has started to kick in. It’s hard on Momma. I am so thankful I don’t have to leave him at a DayCare center and walk away each morning with him crying. I don’t think my heart could handle it! I had to leave him with tears one morning at camp when I needed to teach class. That one morning was so hard!

We are firmly believing that his first word has been spoken and identified as ‘ball’ (baaal). He does occasionally say mama, and dadadadada; however, ball seems to really be in relation to an actual ball or round object. Mama and Dadadada are just words but not really directed toward us. He loves to play and to be busy. We have started to let him watch tv a little bit- mostly in desperate attempt to fall asleep for a nap. My tummy is getting too big for me to walk and bounce him for a long amount of time, so we tried snuggling on the couch together and that actually works really well in putting him to sleep! So, I am teaching him to comfort eat when he is scared (night time) and to fall asleep to tv. Mom of the year award right here. I am actually really starting to get concerned about sleep when Emmalyn makes her arrival. Jackson is not consistent in naps or in overnight sleep. I am not sure how this circus is going to function! But, we will make it and I know we will love every minute, just like we have this far!
