Jackson Grady {Seven Months}

Well, here’s the seven month update…42 days late. Month seven was March-April, and it turned out to be a crazy and busy time for our family!

Just a short re-cap of Jackson’s development and stages at that time:

-he began to sleep ALL the WAY through the night. We’re talking like 8:30 pm-7 am. It was a marvelous couple of weeks. We haven’t done any “real” sleep training or tried any specific methods so this sleeping through the night suddenly was a surprise to us! But it was welcomed! However, the restful nights left as suddenly as they came. The closer he got to eight months, the more often he decided to wake through the night. 11 pm, 1 am, 3 am, 5 am and up for the day. Those were a couple of really hard weeks. For whatever reason, we decided one night to not put him in his sleep sack. Sleep has improved since! Usually only one wake up- somewhere around 3-4 am. Turns out he is quite the mover in his sleep. I guess this is normal, but new for us; we never know how we will find him laying when we go to get him in the mornings! All the new stages are so exciting! But, also makes us realize just how fast his little life is going already.

-he still loves to eat (bottles and food). He has at least tolerated all pureed foods we have given him. His least favorite have to be the green beans (and to be honest, Momma can’t stand the smell or look of them either!). He really likes sweet potatoes and is happy with most anything else we have tried. He does well with the squeezy pouches as long as someone is holding them for him.

-Momma struggled some this month because Jackson would NOT go to sleep in her arms. Just about any one else could walk him, bounce him, rock him to sleep, except his Momma.

-We got on a more consistent night time routine this month- following Jackson’s lead. Around 8 pm each night, it is clear that he is getting ready for bed. So, we give him a bath in the kitchen sink (which he LOVES), then bottle and bed. He is a champ at putting himself to sleep initially at night. Middle of the night wake ups are completely different, apparently. πŸ˜‰

-Possibly the biggest news for Jackson (and us) in month seven was finding out that he is going to be a BIG BROTHER! Quite shocking and surprising and exciting news! Little baby is due Nov 1 (but we will be induced again at 37 weeks, making the actual date Oct 10-ish).

Along with the pregnancy news, the pregnancy sickness and super ‘tiredness’ (doubt that’s a word), Momma also got the stomach flu along with fever that lasted five days. It was a tough month! But, I am fully recovered now!
