Jackson {3 months}

Today is the day he turns 3 months! It is also the day we return to work. How did three months already pass since he was born!? I have SO enjoyed the past 3 months being a stay at home momma with our sweet baby boy! Going back to work will be a little change from what we are used to- at least what I am used to, he probably won’t realize it for a little while- but I am so thankful I get to take him with me. We worked on his “space” in the office over the weekend. We set up the pack-n-play but we still have a little more rearranging to do to make room for his swing and piano gym. That’s on the agenda for today!

Fast forward to one week later- now maybe I will have time to finish the post! I started writing about his third month birthday on the 16th and now am trying to finish it on the 23rd. 🙂 The past week has been a little busy. We went back to work on the 16th and 17th- that went really well! He is such a good baby and is content watching us move around the work room, but at the same time, he doesn’t hurt for attention either! We all give him plenty of attention, holds, hugs, conversations, and love. Still trying to figure out the best napping area, though. The noise does not bother him at all, but he does not nap well in the pack in play. We’re talking about 10 minutes once we lay him down. He has slept well in his swing, and I took his bouncer seat to work yesterday and he slept really well in that. So, this black Friday, I will be looking for a second bouncer seat so we can have one at work and one at home!

Anyway, so after two days at work, we began a little weekend of traveling. Jordan left for a 2 night preachers/elders planning retreat and baby J and I left with my mom to meet up with my dad and travel to Houston for my niece’s third birthday party! Baby J did great on the way to Houston- it is only a 2.5 hour drive from my parent’s house. The way home, though, was a little harder- it ended up taking us about 4 hours. We traveled back with my cousin’s wife and their three children. Yes, we made a 4 hour car ride with 4 children under the age of 5. 🙂 It went surprisingly well! Their kids were great! Baby J did pretty well. He got hungry about half way so we stopped to get gas and feed the babies. Baby J then had a blow out diaper, in my lap, while nursing. It was quite the mess but we got it all cleaned up and hit the road again after about 20-30 minutes at the gas station. He was content again until the last 20 minutes. At that point we just kept going and fed him once we got home. I may or may not have sat in the floor of the back seat to hold his paci and talk to him 😉 He likes to see someone sitting next to him in the back seat and isn’t thrilled about being alone in the back. 🙂 The birthday party/cousin slumber party was a blast and I am so glad we were able to go!

We went to work the first two days this week and now are getting ready to run a couple of errands, make a quick stop at work, and then pack and cook for baby J’s first Thanksgiving! I am really looking forward to traveling, family time, turkey and dressing, and pictures of baby J in his new turkey shirt 🙂 Mom and I are long time Black Friday shoppers- like all night long Black Friday shoppers- but this year the tradition is taking a break. Baby J was going to go with us, but the stores have changed their opening/closing/re-opening hours and it really messed with our normal shopping schedule so we decided to skip this year. I was also a little nervous about messing up the semi-consistent sleep routine that we kind of have 🙂 I have gotten used to feeding one time a night between 3-4 am.
